Shortlisted for 100 Painters of Tomorrow Book
The 100 Painters of Tomorrow open-call ran from 15 January to 22 March 2013, and received over 4200 submissions from painters from 105 different countries – literally half the world. The selection process to find the 100 most exciting painters has now begun and the announcement date for the final 100 will be released shortly. We are delighted to announce that the short-list for 100 Painters of Tomorrow is now ready for release. Of more than 4300 entries, 427 artists from more than 47 countries caught the eye of the jury.
Jurors: Kurt Beers, Suzanne Cotter, Jacky Klein, Tony Godfrey, Yuko Hasegawa, Suzanne Hudson, Gregor Muir, Valeria Napoleone, Sir Norman Rosenthal, Barry Schwabsky, and Philip Tinari.

This is a surprisingly ambitious group show that doesn’t deal with deaccessioning as a reality (à la Michael Asher) but instead mines that term for the institutional mystery and intrigue it suggests. Deaccessioning is the shadowy process whereby museums get rid of works in their collections. As such, many of the works in this show are packed for transport—either rolled up, crated, stacked, or leaning against the walls.
